The Bahamas became a part of this organization, ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development) in 2008 as Bahamas ASCD Connected Community. A small group of educators headed by Dr. Verneth Patterson and Mrs. Christine Williams met to plan goals and objectives for the way forward.
The Bahamas ASCD held its inaugural conference in October 2011 at Stephen Dillet Primary School on Wulff Road, Nassau, Bahamas. Approximately one hundred and sixty (160) educators were in attendance. Mr. Walter McKenzie Director of Constituent Services from ASCD headquarters in Virginia was our keynote speaker. He spoke on our theme: “Instructions that produce desired results for 21st century learners”.
In October 2012 Bahamas ASCD met the requirement of Affiliate status. We are now Bahamas ASCD Affiliate. The announcement was made at our second Annual Conference October 2012 by Mr. Walter McKenzie Director of Constituent Services.
