Mrs. Anastacia S. Forbes

Anastacia Sandra Forbes, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Therapy from St. Thomas Aquinas College, in Sparkill New York, and a Masters Degree in Education with a specialization  in School Counselling from Kent State University, in Kent Ohio.

 

Throughout her college lifetime she held many leadership positions such as: The Coordinator of Campus Ministries (focus on Volunteerism), Resident Assistant, Aquinas Ambassador, and Senior Class President of the Class of 1996.  She also served on the Presidential Inauguration Committee,  and received the Gold Service Award for service to College and Community which was presented at the 1996 graduation.

 

Her work history demonstrates progressive responsibility, leadership roles and supervisory experience in academia with over fourteen years of experience working in Higher Education.  Mrs. Forbes has had the opportunity to work in various capacities which prepared her for her current position at The College of the Bahamas as Assistant Director, of Counselling & Health Services Dept: and Counsellor with portfolio assignment as Coordinator for Disability Support Services. She has also served as the Coordinator of First Year Seminar and Learning Support Services.

 

She also teaches the Student Development Seminars and hosts several workshops throughout the academic year. She has worked at: COB’s Library as a Library Associate, Kingsway Academy High School as an Art Teacher and Coordinator of Junior Chapel , and St. Johns College as the High School Guidance Counsellor and Department Head.

 

Anastacia was also afforded the opportunity to serve as Director for Kids UP After-school Programme, sponsored by St. Andrew’s Kirk Presbyterian Church. She participated in Camp SCUBA, another programme offered by St. Andrew’s Kirk conducting Art Therapy and Anger Management sessions for all boys enrolled.

 

Other arenas of work engagement include: Assistant Coordinator of ”Establishing Academic Resiliency in At Risk Students”, August 2007-August 2010; a multi-national project that spanned three countries and was funded by The Organization of American States.  Anastacia  is Co Author of “A Facilitator’s Guide To Tutoring and Mentoring.” 2008  Published by OAS/FEMCIDI and The College Of The Bahamas, Counselling & Health Services Department.

 

Mrs. Forbes is also Director of Children’s Ministry at the Church of God of Prophecy Love Center, which is located on Ernest and York Streets.

 

She has a passion for Art, children, poetry and loves to learn. Her interests include pottery/ceramics, art making, reading and finding meaningful ways to engage her daughters in wholesome activities.

 

She is married to Clifford F. S. Forbes and the couple have three beautiful daughters, Nastassia, Felicia and Antonia.
